She uses this knowledge not only to pass on to people learning to surf but also her coaches to ensure the best high quality level of customer service.
Dominique began her surfing career in a male dominated environment and has recognised the need for girls and women to have encouragement and support in learning and developing their surfing. Pure Blue is passionate about supporting women and girls through surfing to develop their confidence, social skills and self esteem through supported women only sessions.

OUR COACHES
DOMINIQUE
Dominique Kent grew up and a large surfing family in the North Cornish village of St Agnes, a village renowned for raising surfers with a spirit for conquering the worlds waves. Following that spirit Dom lived for many years in New Zealand and Australia honing her surfing skills, and later winning the New Zealand long boarding title. Dominique’s search for good waves has taken her all around the world; not only to enjoy the waves but to meet the people as well, sharing in their culture and of course surfing stories. Dominique has a passion for developing women’s and girls surfing, supporting them in a safe and non judgmental learning environment and developing their hidden surfing skills. Having founded and run, on a voluntary basis, the St Agnes Girls Surf Academy in 2002, her commitment to women’s surfing enabled the first women’s only surf contest to run in 2003 at the inaugural Protest Women’s Open. As a former coach to the British Junior Team, Dominique has trained and escorted two teams to the prestigious World Surfing Games and many contests with the Celtic teams. She has for many years worked as assistant manager, not to mention competitor for the Cornish Surf Teams. Dominique has a lot of respect from the local community as a surf and top level coach. |
